Obligation of Secrecy and Confidentiality

The University of Santiago de Compostela (hereinafter USC), owner of this portal, as responsible for the data treatment informs the users of this website of its policy of protection of personal data so that they decide freely and voluntarily if they wish to provide the USC with the personal data that may be required or that may be obtained from the user on the occasion of the registration or hiring of any of the services offered by the USC through it. Personal data will be treated confidentially and in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016 (RGPD) on the protection of natural persons and LO 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights and will be incorporated into the corresponding processing activity of the USC.

We have implemented all the necessary technical, organizational, and legal measures to prevent its alteration, loss, treatment, or unauthorized access, taking into account at all times the state of technology and the nature of the data stored. USC staff and volunteers are committed not to disclose or make use of the information they have accessed because of their position.

Although in the transmission of data over the Internet or from a website it is not possible to guarantee absolute protection against intrusions, the USC endeavour to maintain physical, electronic, and procedural protection measures to guarantee the maximum protection of your personal data.

The measures we use include the following:

  • limit access to personal data only to those people who must know them in view of the tasks they perform
  • as a rule, transfer the collected data in encrypted format
  • install “firewalls” to prevent unauthorized access, for example by hackers
  • routinely monitor access to computer systems to detect and stop any misuse of personal data.

The USC reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy to adapt it to new legislation or jurisprudence, announcing on this page the changes introduced. Certain services provided on the portal may contain particular conditions with specific provisions on the protection of personal data.

Legitimation of the treatment

The legitimacy of the processing of your data is a consequence of the consent you give by contacting through the means made available to you. (Article 6.1 letter a RGPD)

Prior to the processing of personal data, the USC obtains express and unequivocal consent from the owner of the personal data based on a legitimate interest of the user. By marking the corresponding informed consent boxes and entering data in the different fields, the user accepts, expressly, freely and unequivocally, that their data is necessary to meet their request by USC. The user guarantees that the personal data provided is true and is responsible for communicating any modification thereof.

If there is a request or order, the legitimacy will be the relationship derived from it, which may to become contractual and the fulfilment of the professional and legal obligations derived from it. (Article 6.1 letter b RGPD)

There is also legitimacy through the interest of the owner of the website or the user. (Article 6.1 lit. f RGPD)

Data Transfer

The data derived from the contact and consultation will not be transferred to third parties, unless expressly authorized or legally obliged.

Data storage

All personal data will be kept for the time necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. If such data is used for purposes that oblige the USC to keep it for different periods of time, the USC will apply the longest storage period and, in any case, the data will be kept for the time necessary to determine the possible responsibilities that may arise from the aforementioned purpose and from the processing of the data.

Rights of data subjects

Any person has the right to access their personal data, to update them, to rectify inaccurate data, request their deletion, portability, or limitation of treatment, in which case we will only keep them for the exercise or defence of claims. They may also object to the processing of their data and profiling based on the automated processing of their data.

Data subjects have the right to revoke the consent given at any time.

As a consequence of the application of the right to erasure or opposition to the processing of personal data in the online environment, interested parties have the right to be forgotten according to the jurisprudence determined by the EU Court of Justice.

Purposes of the treatment in social networks

Time of storage of personal data in social networks

We can only consult or unsubscribe your data in the form that the social network allows us depending on the profile. We will treat your data during the time you are a follower, friend or give “like”, “follow” or similar buttons.

The rectification of your personal data or the restriction of the information or publications that you share must be done through the configuration of your profile or user in the social network itself.

Personal data of third parties

As a general rule, we only treat the data provided by the owners. If you provide us with data of third parties, you must previously inform and request their consent, the USC being exempt from any responsibility for the breach of this requirement.

Data of minors

We do not process data of children under 14 years of age so if you are under that age do not provide us with your data or the data of third parties who are not that age. USC disclaims any liability for breach of this clause.

Content contributed by users

In social networks, forms, blogs and similar instruments, users can make comments. All information and comments received will be considered assigned free of charge. The user must not send information that cannot be treated in this way.

The owner of the website reserves the right to publish the comments sent and withdraw all the which are not related to the content of the entry those which violate intellectual property, respect for the dignity of the person, the right to honour, one’s own image or privacy, the right to the protection of personal data, those which are discriminatory, xenophobic, racist, pornographic, which threaten youth or childhood, public order or security or which, in their opinion, are illegal or simply not suitable for publication. Whoever sends a comment is responsible for providing lawful content and the possible responsibilities of any kind which may arise, including any compensation. In any case, the owner of the website is not responsible for the opinions expressed by users through the participation tools, or for the contents. Comments or content not published or removed will be destroyed.

It is not recommended to send your own information, let alone that of third parties, and it is expressly forbidden to incorporate sensitive data or that violate any type of right of people. If the user includes personal data, they must comply with data protection regulations. Regarding yours, you can exercise the rights set forth in the previous section.
